European Open Science Cloud Skills Commons
European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) pilot project aims to address technical challenges, demonstrate science tools and services, integrate culture, govern policies, and enhance skills and engagement. The project focuses on competences, capabilities, and skill acquisition for open science and data science. The Skills Work Package (WP) aims to make research data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and develop competences to use EOSC services effectively. The project examines the skills landscape, identifies gaps, and provides a framework for scoping training services within EOSC.

EOSCpilot WP7 focus Skills and capability issues: oWhat competences and capabilities do research teams and institutions need for open science and data science? oWhat skills will we need to use EOSC services? oHow do we acquire those skills? oWhat gaps in skills and provision exist? The European Open Science Cloud for Research pilot project is funded by the European Commission, DG Research & Innovation under contract no. 739563 www.eoscpilot.eu 4
Skills WP aims Competences to make research data/ objects FAIR, and keep them there Skills landscape and gap analysis Competences linked to skills and capabilities to use the services Skills framework Scoping training- as-a-service in EOSC Expectations, recommendations for education and prof. development The European Open Science Cloud for Research pilot project is funded by the European Commission, DG Research & Innovation under contract no. 739563 www.eoscpilot.eu 5
Purpose of today Validate competence gaps for data stewardship in open science, data science context Consult on open questions o FAIR principles for EOSC training resources? o Priorities EOSC support to institutions on skills? o What skills development to reward and how?
