  1. Evangelism Jesus Style John 4:4-15 First Baptist Church, Subang Pastor Dato Dr Daniel Ho 8 September 2019

  2. John 4:4-15 4Now he had to go through Samaria. 5So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. ...

  3. John 4:4-15 ... It was about the sixth hour. 7When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?" 8(His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. ...

  4. John 4:4-15 ... How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) 10Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." ...

  5. John 4:4-15 ... 11"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?" ...

  6. John 4:4-15 ... 13Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." ...

  7. John 4:4-15 ... 15The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water."

  9. Flaws in the Church today We have turned evangelism into a programme We have turned evangelism into an event We have relegated evangelism to the so-called experts, the evangelists

  10. What is evangelism? It is sharing Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and trusting God for the results

  11. What is evangelism? It should be the responsibility and lifestyle of every follower of Christ (cf. Acts 8:4) Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.

  12. Why must we share Christ? It is sharing in the heart of God (Jn. 3:16, 17) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

  13. Why must we share Christ? Otherwise people are lost to a Christless eternity (Col. 1:13, 14) For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

  14. 2 forms of evangelism Visual Verbal

  15. How does Jesus go about doing it? Posture of the heart (v. 4; 2 Pet. 3:9) John 4:4 Now he had to go through Samaria.

  16. How does Jesus go about doing it? Posture of the heart (v. 4; 2 Pet. 3:9) 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

  17. How does Jesus go about doing it? Posture of the heart (v. 4; 2 Pet. 3:9) Place of engagement (v. 5, 6) So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

  18. How does Jesus go about doing it? Posture of the heart (v. 4; 2 Pet. 3:9) Place of engagement (v. 5, 6) Point of conversation (v. 7) When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, Will you give me a drink?

  19. How does Jesus go about doing it? Prejudice of the woman (v. 9) The Samaritan woman said to him, You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink? (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

  20. How does Jesus go about doing it? Prejudice of the woman (v. 9) Promise of the Saviour (v. 10) Jesus answered her, If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.

  21. How does Jesus go about doing it? Prejudice of the woman (v. 9) Promise of the Saviour (v. 10) Plea of the woman (v. 15) The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.

  22. Final Challenge By God s grace and in the power of the Holy Spirit I would like to lead __ person(s) to faith in Christ and see that person(s) being discipled in the life of the church. Make this an annual goal.
