The EveryAGE Counts Campaign is driven by a national coalition of organisations and individuals formed to shift negative social norms on ageing and towards older people raise awareness of ageism campaign against the structural barriers to participation caused by ageism research the attitudes and beliefs that drive ageism faced by older Australians which prevent older people from participating equally in social and economic life is auspiced in its initial stages by The Benevolent Society. is funded by The Benevolent Society and the JO & JR Wicking Trust.

  4. Ageism is stereotyping, discrimination and mistreatment based solely upon age* Ageism comes from negative attitudes and beliefs about what it means to be older. It is a big problem because it impacts on our confidence, quality of life, job prospects, health and control over life decisions. *while ageism can be experienced by people at any age, the focus of EveryAGE Counts is ageism experienced by older people.

Imagine what an Australia without ageism would be like Older people would be valued and their contributions acknowledged have opportunities to learn, grow and live purposeful lives participate in work for as long as they want to be visible and represented in media in all their diversity be connected with their communities where contact between generations is normal and encouraged have a voice and be part of all major policy decisions that affect them have equal access to goods and services and consumer protections when they need them get the right care and support, which maintains their dignity and autonomy, if and when they need it.
