1893 Royal Enfield started their business as a weapons manufacturer Lee- Enfield (Enfield Gun) which was made for British Army. The company continues to produce needles, machine parts and Enfield bicycle. A prestigious order was won to supply precision parts to the Royal arms factory.To capitalize on this prestigious contract, the word 'Royal' was added to the bicycles' brand name, creating the legend Royal Enfield. 'Made Like A Gun' trademark was coined. 1898 Bob Walker smith designed Quadricycle a work s prototype for his personal use. This Quadric-cycle (1898)was a cycle on four wheels on which the driver was sitting over the engine and passengers were behind him. It was inspired and driven by 'DE Dion Quad engine. 1899 Tricycles powered by De dion Engine were produced.

1901 R.W Smith and Frenchman Jules Gobiet designed the first Royal Enfield motorcycle which was a two wheeled vehicle with a motor. First World War (1911-1921) In 1914,Enfield equipped large numbers of motorcycles to the British War Department and also gained a motorcycle contract for the Imperial Russian Government. 1932 The legendary bullet 350 cc was born which was given for the service of Royal Army.
1914 1923 (Inter wars) Legendary bullet 1932 In the Royal Enfield Quadricycle and Tricycle, the driver sat on the engine that is the engine was on the seat but later in the motorcycle it was below the seat for more convenience of the driver.
Second World War(1939-1945) In1943, during the brink of World War II, The Enfield Cycle Company was called upon by the British authorities to develop and create military motorcycles. Royal Enfield then produced Royal Enfield WDR, well-known as the Flying Flea, a light-weight 125 cc motorcycle designed to be released by parachute with airborne troops and 8000 of those were produced. The firm also had a specially designed side car which could accommodate a machine gun. 1955 The Indian government started looking for a suitable motorcycle for its police forces and the army for patrolling duties on the country's border and found Bullet 350cc best for this and ordered 800 of them.

It was during the world wars that the motorcycle gained ground, being acknowledged as a reliable means of transportation that replaced horses and ensured a more effective communication with the troops. At first, it was only used by the British government during wars and later Indian Government Army because of it s ground clearance and it was a perfect bike for terrain. Bullet received an impressive reputation because of its meticulous standard, its rugged good looks, immaculate handling and train like reliability, have proved an intriguing combination from the main who doesn t just follow the crowd. It is proved in the battle too and road racers success without any failure in the engine. The Enfield Bullet dominated the Indian highways and with each passing year its popularity kept rising. These bikes are not just a mode of transportation but rather are part of the India s cultural motorcycle fabric. Now, it is also used by girls which itself is a trend in India.
