  1. Report for CA-APIC APIC SFBA Chapter Project EVS Optimization Project 2017 November 3, 2017 Presented by Sue Barnes, RN, CIC, FAPIC

  2. EVS Optimization Project 2017 Purpose: This has has transitioned from just a toolkit to a project designed to support optimization of local EVS Programs. The project team will identify several local hospitals to participate. The project will involve self-assessment of the EVS program by each participating hospital, a site visit by IP/EVS experts from the project team followed (same day) by a Kick-Off meeting with educational presentations including about the AHE certification program and tools. Monthly meetings started in June 2017 At the end of the efforts will focus on spreading the EVS Optimization project throughout IP and EVS communities including via CA-APIC, Corporate IP Director Group and other avenues to possible include: IC Today webinar, commentary paper submission to relevant professional journal, presentations at SF and other APIC chapters, submission of oral/poster conference presentations: AHE, APIC, HQI, Hospital Executives.

  4. Project Status Steps Completed 1. Recruit team members 2. Develop charter/goals and timeline 3. Schedule monthly work group meetings 4. Survey CA-APIC and APIC IP talk to determine if other chapters have done a similar project in order to join forces vs. duplicate efforts (none so far) 5. Develop outline for project 6. Establish Drop Box folders for project support materials

Project Status Steps Still Pending Identify test locations (department vs. entire hospitals) Request test site self assessment Schedule regular planning meetings Schedule Education/Kick off meeting in person at test site(s) Weekly check in phone meetings with test site(s) Evaluation, adjustment project plan, replicate in two additional sites Plan for wide sharing such as via conference presentation, webinar, publication.
