  1. Information about exams at Stockland Green School Before your exams Day of the exam Examination Room After your exams JCQ Exam Regulations FAQ

  2. Before your exams Your candidate timetable Please check your individual timetable carefully. If there are any mistakes on it (e.g. name, date of birth), you must tell your teacher immediately. You must only use your full, legal name for your examinations and this will be the name that appears on your certificates. Mistakes that are not corrected at this stage could mean that your certificate is printed incorrectly and you may be charged to correct it. You should check to see if you have been entered for all your examinations, and also if you have been entered for the correct tier ( higher or foundation ). If any of this information is wrong or missing, tell your teacher straight away. Check to see if your examinations are in the morning (AM) or in the afternoon (PM), and how long each examination is. This will help you prepare. You must keep the timetable safe. If you lose it ask for a new one, but you might have to wait for it. Your candidate number Your candidate number is a 4 digit number and can be found on your timetable. This number relates only to you and should be written on the front of each examination paper. This number will be used for all of your examinations whilst at Stockland Green School and it is essential you get this correct. Make sure you write it on the front of all of your exam papers clearly. Clashes and isolation A clash happens when you are timetabled to sit more than one examination at the same time. When this happens you will be asked to sit one examination after another. Between each examination you may be kept in isolation so that you cannot talk to other pupils about the examinations. This is necessary in order to maintain the integrity of an examination, and is not a punishment. A member of staff will be with you while you are in isolation, and you may be with other candidates. Sometimes you might be asked to sit in isolation if there are significant rooming or staffing issues and you will need to take your examination later than other people. This does not happen very often, and you will be informed by letter if it applies to you. Back

  3. Day of the exam Uniform You must wear your full, normal school uniform for all your examinations. Being late It is very important that you are not late for your examinations as your paper might be disqualified. If you are going to be late you should telephone the school and make your way in as quickly as possible. You are strongly advised that you remain under the supervision of your parent/carer until you are handed over to a member of the school s staff. You might be allowed to start your examination late, but this will be at the discretion of the school. If you are very late for your examination then you will usually be disqualified. Mobile phones and other electronic devices The use or possession of: mobile phones, pagers, organisers, music players, headphones or any other type of electronic communication, watches or storage device is strictly not allowed in examination rooms. These are not permitted under any circumstances, even if turned off and in your bag. If you are discovered with a mobile phone or other device, even if it is turned off, you will be reported and will usually face disqualification. Notes and markings If you have any revision notes or other pieces of paper on you (e.g. in your pockets) ensure you hand these in or put them in your bag before the examination. Make sure you have no markings on your hands, arms, clothing or equipment. All such markings, notes and messages discovered after the start of the examination will be reported to the examination board and you will usually face disqualification. Next page

  4. Day of the exam Missing an examination You must attend all the examinations that are shown on your individual candidate timetable. Missing an examination for any reason will usually result in being awarded a zero mark (and possibly a charge). If you have severe illness you should telephone the school as soon as possible of the morning on the examination. You will usually need to provide a doctor s note/medical letter and the school will explain when this is required. In some cases the school may be willing to apply for special consideration (see below). Special consideration If something has seriously affected your performance in an examination (i.e. a death in the family), or has caused you to miss an entire examination then, in some cases, the school may apply for special consideration. It is important to let the school know quickly about any such occurrence and evidence will be required. Equipment If you are unsure what you need to bring, speak with your teacher. The invigilators have a limited amount of spare equipment but you must not rely on using these. The candidate is responsible for ensuring they have the correct equipment. All equipment must be brought in a clear plastic bag or transparent pencil case. No graffiti, notes or messages are allowed on any of the equipment or cases. Borrowing from other candidates is not allowed. Correction fluid must not be used. You must read Your Checklists and ensure you have everything you need and are fully prepared. Before you enter the exam room make sure you have been to the toilet, removed your coat and turned off your phone and other devices. Back

We have a legal responsibility to report all cases of malpractice. In nearly all cases you will face disqualification. If you disrupt or disturb an examination by any means this is also considered malpractice and you will be reported to the examination board in the same way. In nearly all cases you will be disqualified. Please be aware that malpractice can lead to disqualification from several examinations, even if they are with other boards. This will be at the discretion of the examination boards concerned and is not decided by Stockland Green School. You may also be charged by the school in order to recover the costs we have incurred. JCQ publish information about malpractice and the sanctions you could face. 8. After your exams Results You will be informed when your results are available. Please remember that we can only issue results to the candidate unless we have written permission from you to release them to someone else. Please note that your results slips is provisional and does not count as a certificate. If you are worried about your result or think you have been graded incorrectly you must inform your teacher straight away. There is a limited time when we can ask for your paper to be checked. Due to the potential costs incurred, this will be at the discretion of the school. Certificates You will be able to collect your certificates during November. The specific details will be published on our website. Certificates must be collected in person and signed for. We are required by the examination boards to keep your certificates on file for one year, after which we are allowed to dispose of them. Please be aware we cannot be held responsible for certificates not collected after 12 months. IMPORTANT Awarding bodies cannot provide full replacement certificates. If you have lost or not claimed your certificate you can request a Certifying Statement of Results from the appropriate examination board. A substantial fee will be charged for this service between 43 and 67 per certificate per exam board. As you may need to present your certificates as proof of achievement to future employers, universities, and any possible emigration applications, it is extremely important to store all certificates safely. Please collect them promptly and keep them safe. . Back

  9. JCQ Exam regulations JCQ Exam Documentation for 2021/22 Examinations are strictly regulated by JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications). We are obliged to bring to all students attention the following JCQ regulations in order that they can familiarise themselves with them. These regulations are applicable to all pupils in all schools across the country and it is important that our students understand what is required of them. www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/IFC-On-Screen_Examinations_2021_v3.pdf https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Information-for-candidates-Privacy-Notice-19-20-v3.pdf https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/IFC-Written_Examinations_2021_v5.pdf https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/IFC-NE_Assessments_2021_v4.pdf https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/DD2489-JCQ-Social-Media-Information-for-Candidates.pdf https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/IFC-Coursework_Assessments_2021_v4.pdf https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Unauthorised-Items-poster-2021.pdf https://www.jcq.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Warning-to-Candidates-20122.pdf If you are unsure about anything then ask a teacher or the exams officer. 10. FAQs Before examinations When will I receive my examination timetable? Exam timetables are issued about 2 weeks prior to the first examination in a series. If you haven't received your timetable please speak to your teacher or the Examinations Officer as soon as possible. If you notice anything is incorrect or missing from your timetable you should inform your teacher or the Examinations Officer as soon as possible. I've lost my exam timetable. Can I have a replacement? You must keep all documents relating to examinations safe and secure. Lost items will be replaced by the school, but this might take some time. Speak with your teacher. During examinations I've missed the start time of the examination, what should I do? You should get to the school as quickly as possible. If possible, phone the school to say you are on your way, but do not delay. It is best if your parent/carer brings you to school and walks you in to reception and speaks to the receptionist. After examinations I've lost my exam certificates, where can I get replacements? The school does not produce exam certificates and is therefore unable to issue replacements. Replacements can usually be obtained from the relevant awarding body. There is a charge for the service. Next page

  11. FAQs My name is spelt wrongly on my certificate. Can I have a new one? All candidates must inform the school immediately if their name appears incorrectly on their examination timetable or results slip. Failure to do this may result in your certificate being printed incorrectly. There is normally a charge to have your certificate altered. Your certificate will be returned to the examination board for replacement. Please note that certificates will only be printed using the candidate's legal name at the time the grade was awarded. My name has changed since I collected my certificate. Can I get a certificate in my new name? No, the name on your certificate will be your name on the date the result was awarded. You are not entitled to update certificates due to subsequent name changes. I left the school 1 or more years ago and didn't collect my certificates. Can I have them now? Please contact the school as early as possible. Please note it is the candidate's responsibility to collect their results/certificates as the school does not held on to them indefinitely. If the school no longer has your certificates then they will need to be obtained from the awarding body and there will be a charge. I'm not happy with my exam result, can I have my paper remarked? If you believe you have been graded incorrectly then you should approach your teacher in the first instance. You must do this as soon as possible after receiving your result, as there is only a limited amount of time when action can be taken. It may be possible to have your paper remarked but the awarding body may issue a charge for this service. REMEMBER: Your exams are very important and you will carry the results with you for the rest of your life. If you have any concerns or queries about any aspect of your examinations you should speak with your teacher straight away. Back
