Exam Revision GCSE Drama Summer 2016
DETAIL! The key to scoring well in the exam is the level of detail in which you write and your accurate use of technical language. You must identify specific moments or sections from the piece you are writing about a vague statement gets you no marks.
Think about your body! Body- body language/stance Arms-gesture Legs- movement Head- facial expressions Mouth dialogue- voice with quote.. Tone, pitch, accent etc Space around you Proxemics -where are the other characters? Props? Set?
Meet Stickman! If you can remember the words that make up Stickman, you should easily answer your question. Each part of his body corresponds to a different skill, e.g. Feet = Movement, Arms & Hands = Gesture, etc.
Professor Stickman This is a more detailed Stickman, using even more detailed technical language. If you use the Professor, you are unlikely to forget anything about your character. Ensure you understand and can give examples for each part of the Prof. Try it with a partner now
Your Turn! Draw Stickman and Professor Stickman into your book. Make sure you are spelling all the technical language correctly. Test yourself draw Stickman from memory. EXTENSION: Draw the Prof from memory You won t necessarily use every skill all the time think about a specific moment in your performance when you used your acting skills effectively to portray your character. Using Stickman to help you, describe how you showed how your character was feeling at that time. 5 minutes GO!
Timed Question 10 Marks 10 Minutes! Don t just retell the story! Talk about YOUR contribution! Evaluate how successful your contribution was to the final performance for your target audience, giving two specific examples where you felt you achieved your aims. [10 marks] Who were your TA? Remember STICKMAN! What did you want the audience to see/feel/ understand?
Peer To -Peer Swap your answer with your partner. You have to act out the part using only the description. Can you? What was missing? Go back and add the details. Now re-read does it make more sense?
