Saved By Grace Eph. 2:1-10
Ephesians 2:1-10 1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in (your NET, NASB, etc.) trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Ephesians 2:1-10 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 2:1-10 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:1-10 describes the past, present and future condition of a sinner saved by the grace of God.
You Were Dead In Your Trespasses and Sins (2:1 You Were Dead In Your Trespasses and Sins (2:1- -3) 3) Dead not incapable of response (hearing, believing, obeying), but separated from God. (cf. 2:12) Your not Adam s; not an inherited corrupt nature. (NET, NASB, NIV) Trespasses a fall, departure, lapse from the standard of God s holiness. If born totally depraved, nowhere to depart from. Sins To miss the mark of God s standard of righteousness
You Were Dead In Your Trespasses and Sins (2:1 You Were Dead In Your Trespasses and Sins (2:1- -3) 3) In time past you walked (lived) According to the course of this world (Rom. 12:1-2; I Jn. 2:15- 17) According to the prince of the power of the air. (II Cor. 4:4) The spirit that works in the children of disobedience. According to the desires of the flesh and mind. (Js. 1:13-15) By nature the children of wrath (cf. Rom. 2:5; Col. 3:6) Not born that way (as the Calvinist would assert) a mode of feeling and acting which by long habit has become nature this meaning is evident from the preceding context (Thayer)
But God...Made Us Alive Together With Christ (Eph. 2:4 But God...Made Us Alive Together With Christ (Eph. 2:4- -10) Rich in Mercy. (v. 4) Because of His great Love wherewith he loved us. (v. 4) Even when we were dead in sins (v. 5) By Grace. (vv. 5, 7, 8) In His Kindness toward us, through Jesus Christ. (v. 7) Made us alive spiritually alive, forgave our sins, removed the enmity that separated between us and God. 10)
What Is The Power of God To Make Sinners Alive? What Is The Power of God To Make Sinners Alive? Not human weapons. (II Cor. 10:4-5) The message of the gospel. The proclamation of the mercy, love, grace and kindness of God. The message of the sacrificial death of Jesus and the shedding of His blood for our sins. Rescue from the wrath of God for those who accept by obedience the benefits of His grace.
What Is The Power of God To Make Sinners Alive? Rom. 1:16-18 16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
When Is The Sinner Saved By The Grace of God? Eph. 2:5-6 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Col. 2:11-12 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Rom. 6:3-5 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom. 6:3-5 3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Ephesians 2:5-6 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: Col. 2:11-12 12Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13And you, being dead in your sins hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
