New Quizzes New Quizzes will be available for all courses from beginning of 2022. New Quizzes offers new features including: Student Quiz Accommodations for the whole course (not just quiz by quiz!) Shuffle Answers for each student Printing Quizzes Require Waiting Period Between Attempts Stimulus, Ordering and Hot Spot Question Types Canvas will be phasing out the use of Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes will become the default quizzing engine in 2023. New Quizzes Features Categorisation Categorization questions require students to place answers in the correct categories while ignoring all distractor answers. Stimulus/Passage Stimulus content gives students a piece of content with associated questions. 3
New Quizzes Features Ordering In an Ordering question, students are required to place answers in a specific order. Hot Spot Hot Spot questions allow teachers to upload images and have their students identify a specific area in that image. 4
New Quizzes in Canvas From January 2022 there will be the option to create either a Classic Quiz or use New Quizzes. New Quizzes will become the default quizzing tool in Canvas from 2023 onwards so recommend trialling the tool next year. New Quizzes have a slightly different logo: 6

Migrating to New Quizzes You can migrate a quiz from Classic Quizzes to be used in New Quizzes. Note: After migration to New Quizzes, multiple dropdown questions display as matching questions. Question banks cannot be imported into New Quizzes as item banks. However, you can import questions manually into an item bank by exporting a Canvas quiz.
