What Is An Elevator Pitch? Yinan Zheng; Interorganizational Liaison An elevator pitch, elevator speech, or elevatorstatement is a short summary used to quickly and simply define a person, profession, product, service, organization or event and its value proposition. This is a short, pre-prepared speech that explains what your organization does, clearly and succinctly. Scenario: Pretend that you run into your potential employer in an elevator and you have only a few minutes to introduce yourself to him/her. What would you say?
Why Is It Important? You only have 30-60 seconds to make a powerful first impression and market yourself. The attention span of the average person is just 30 seconds before their mind starts wandering. People today feel as if they have less time. Learn to seize opportunities before you, even if the timing is short!
