LEC 2016 PROPOSED PROJECTS EXTERNAL USE
Automatic Plant Watering System Summary:Automatic system that takes care of a plant by reading its soil moisture and watering it with the required amount of water. HW requirements: UDOO Neo, display, soil moisture sensor, peristaltic pump. Milestone 1: Introduce and save the data about the plant (20%) Milestone 2: Communicate with the soil moisture sensor (20%) Milestone 3: Water the plant (40%) Final milestone: Finish the project (20 %) Bonuses: Scan the plant (5%) Light the plant (15%) EXTERNAL USE 2
Automatic LED-based lighting Summary: Implement a user-controlled LED-based lighting system. HW requirements: UDOO Neo w. Wi-Fi, RGB LEDs Milestone 1 (15 %): Use the UDOO board to control multiple RGB LEDs using software. Milestone 2 (15 %): Use 2 LEDs to monitor the CPU and RAM usage of the UDOO board. Milestone 3 (50 %): Implement a PC or smartphone application with an RGB color picker and use it to control the colors of each of the remaining LEDs. Milestone 4 (20 %): Implement Led equalizer synchronize with the music Bonus (20 %): Implement vocal command for the system EXTERNAL USE 3
Control Music Player with Sound Summary: Implement a music player on UDOO which can be controlled using user-created sounds. HW requirements: UDOO Dual / Quad, microphone, speakers Milestone 1 (20 %): Fetch audio input from the microphone and play it back on the speakers. Milestone 2 (20 %): Create a media player application that can play audio files on the speakers. Milestone 3 (30 %): Implement a sound recognition feature for hand claps (1 x clap pause / resume song, 2 x claps next song) Milestone 4 (30 %): Implement voice recognition to pause / resume songs and change the volume. Bonus (20 %): Select a specific song using voice recognition. EXTERNAL USE 4
Router Anywhere Summary: Create a Wi-Fi access point from a UDOO board and use it to distribute internet from a 3G / 4G USB modem. HW requirements: UDOO Neo w. Wi-Fi, USB modem Milestone 1 (35 %): Use UDOO to connect to the internet via the USB modem. Milestone 2 (45 %): Create internet connection sharing by converting the UDOO board into a Wi-Fi access point Milestone 3 (20 %): Create automated scripts to manage the connections when the USB modem is inserted or removed Bonus (20 %): Start the UDOO AP automatically at boot-up EXTERNAL USE 5
Automatic Overtaking System for Road Vehicles Summary: Simulated system which allows a car to automatically and safely overtake other road vehicles. HW requirements: UDOO Neo, display Milestone 1 (25 %): Graphical simulation of road traffic Milestone 2 (15 %): User input Milestone 3 (40 %): The automatic overtaking system Milestone 4 (10 %): Project testing and completion Bonus (20 %): Adaptive cruise control with overtaking EXTERNAL USE 6
Adaptive Cruise Control for Road Vehicles Summary: Simulated system which allows a vehicle to maintain its speed but also adapt to the traffic in front of it. HW requirements: UDOO Neo, display Milestone 1 (25 %): Graphical simulation of road traffic Milestone 2 (15 %): User input Milestone 3 (40 %): The adaptive cruise control system Milestone 4 (10 %): Project testing and completion Bonus (20 %): Adaptive cruise control with overtaking Example: here EXTERNAL USE 7
ZEN UDOO Description ZEN UDOO is a device which helps maintaining a relaxing atmosphere. The device should contain 4 buttons, each of them corresponding to the desired mood: concentration, relaxation, sleeping and stressing (of course, this is only for testing). The pulse will be monitored and considering the selected mode, some waves will be emitted in order to keep the desired state. Milestone 1 Add the buttons (15% - 1 week) Milestone 2 Pulse monitor (20% - 1 week) Milestone 3 Play waves (25% - 2 weeks) Gamma Waves [40 Hz to 100 Hz - Highest] Binding senses, cognition, information processing, learning, perception, REM sleep Beta Waves [12 Hz to 40 Hz - High] Conscious focus, memory, problem solving Alpha Waves[8 Hz to 12 Hz - Moderate] Relaxation Theta Waves [4 Hz to 8 Hz - Slow] Creativity, emotional connection, intuition, relaxation Delta Waves [0 Hz to 4 Hz - Slowest] Immune system, natural healing, restorative / deep sleep Final milestone Voice processing (40% - 3 weeks) Bonus: Heart rate tracker (+20%) Play EXTERNAL USE 8
