Common Cosmo Pathways with ASCENT If you are currently a Cosmo Year One student Cosmetology year two finishing your program! Something else If you are currently a Cosmo Year Two student Cosmetology and Salon Management AAS Business degrees or certificates Nursing/healthcare degrees or certificates Something else entirely!
COSMETOLOGY YEAR TWO
Continuing with Cosmetology Purpose: Finishing courses to prepare for licensure Program: You know the drill! Courses: Laws and Rules, Intermediate and Advanced Scalp, Haircolor, Haircutting, Hairstyling, Chemical Textures, Sanitation, Make Up, etc. Perks: OPTIONAL - cosmo year 2 + additional academic course or two Math English History Communication Etc. Pace: Just two semesters left!
COSMETOLOGY & SALON MANAGEMENT, AAS
Background: Types of Degrees One or two semesters, just a few courses. May go back to school later for a degree. Not interested in going on for a Bachelor s degree. Two or three year degree, then entering the workforce. About 2 years, halfway to a Bachelor s degree. Planning on transferring to a four-year school to finish. About 4 years (including AA or AS). May or may not go on for a graduate degree. About 4 years (including AA or AS). Not interested in going on for a graduate degree.
Cosmetology and Salon Management, AAS Purpose: Prepare you to open/manage your own salon business (or manage one) Program: 30 credits of cosmetology (already done!)+ 30 credits of academics 15 credits of generals 15 credits of business Perks: Once you have completed your cosmetology courses, you are already halfway done with this degree! Pace: Can either do full time for two semesters, or part time for three or four semesters (recommended if you re also working). ASCENT can help you finish the program or at least get started
Finishing the AAS General Education Courses Business Courses English Introduction to Business Communication Social and behavioral science Psychology, Sociology, OR Anthropology Technical Mathematics Intro to Entrepreneurship Accounting HR Management Marketing Legal Business
Many Types of Business Degrees Purpose: Manage or open a business Program: Many different options! Digital Marketing Certificate (18 credits) Business Administration Certificate (24 credits) Business Administration AAS (60 credits) Business Transfer AA (60 credits) Business Administration BAS (120 credits) Perks: Can use the degree for many things, including cosmetology Pace: Flexible and variable. Anywhere as short as one semester to as long as multiple years. Can start and/or finish under ASCENT.
Healthcare Purpose: Various roles in healthcare and/or deathcare Program: Many different options! (most are selective admission) Nurse Aide/CNA Certificate (6 credits) Nursing AAS (71.5 credits, some prerequisites excluded) Nursing BSN (120 credits) Mortuary Science AAS (66 credits, excluding prerequisites) Pre med AS (60 credits) Perks: Cosmetology background can be useful Pace: Full time and part time tracks for each (except NUA). Healthcare degrees are generally lengthy, so ASCENT can help you get started at no cost. Starting the prerequisites during ASCENT can help you get ahead!
SO Many Other Options! Psychology, Political Science, Automotive, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Music, Interior Design, Graphic Design, etc. Many types of degrees and certificates ASCENT can help you make great progress in whatever degree you want to pursue!
