hatchling a recently hatched animal In this lesson a hatchling refers to a sea turtle.
natal beach The beach where the sea turtle was born.
carapace a bony shield covering the back of an animal
migration to go from one country, region, or place to another. This is a picture of a sea turtle named Hibiscus migration route. Notice that there isn t any land in this picture as sea turtles spend their lives in the sea except when the females lay eggs at their natal beach. flipper a broad, flat limb, as of a sea turtle, seal or whale, especially adapted for swimming Sea turtles have 2 sets of flippers the front flippers help swim, steer and glide and the back flipper are used for stopping and turning.
Plankton tiny animals and plants found floating in water
sea grass grasses and plants tat live in the sea, oceans and coastal areas
habitat A place where a person, animal or plant lives. This turtle is in it s natural habitat.
endangered-species A species at risk of extinction because of human activity, climate changes etc.
Now that you know these words better, try using them in a sentence on your paper.
Before teaching the lesson place the students in groups and provide them a list of the words.
