  5. Social care career options tool Why we created it SSSC and NES were asked by the Joint Social Services Task Force to create the Social care career options tool. The social service workforce makes up 7.8% of all Scottish employment. Social care is a hugely diverse sector with varied and flexible roles that offer the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others as well as to gain skills and qualifications. There is a role suited for almost everyone but evidence suggested that information was hard to navigate and didn t fully describe all there is to offer. The career options tool describes a wide range of roles and careers available and highlights those that are the best match for an individual s skills, experience and interests. It will also give users information about how they can progress or specialise in their career. Its aim is to support more people to join and to stay in the social care sector. www.careersincare.scot/sccot
