Why: Half of all Rhode Island renters are housing-cost-burdened In 2018 a household earning the state s median renter household income of $32,361 could not affordably rent the average priced 2-bedroom apartment in any RI city or town In 2016, 8,477 residential eviction cases were filed in Rhode Island courts, resulting in 5,069 evictions As of 2016 RI had the highest eviction rate in New England at 3.07% AH s Response Over the Past 4 Years 53 community events coordinated and attended by over 3,000 individuals 3,485 Rhode Island residents have received housing stabilization services, including eviction prevention and housing application assistance; 2,896 beneficiaries maintained or increased total income from all sources, reducing their rent- to-income ratios; The Why and AH s Response Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22

Once a member is selected a supervisor must: Inform the program manager of member selection Ensure the member signs position description and acceptance letter Encourage member to complete NSCHC as soon as possible Continue communication with soon to be member Provide the program manager a work plan Provide member and program manager with a host-site orientation schedule Recruitment and Next Steps Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22
Expectations: What the member expects from his/her year of service Site supervisor expectations of the member, provide a position description Work hours: How time will be scheduled, remote work, seeking approval for changes in schedule, etc. Host-Site Orientation During COVID Site Tour: Provide host site tour (if applicable) Provide information including Location of workstation -where member has access to computer, phone, etc. How to use copier, fax machine, scanner, etc. How to gain entrance to building (key codes, etc.) Parking Introduce member to host site staff (can be done via email or zoom) Introduce member to agency partners they may work with Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22
Office Policies and Procedures: The host site supervisor should make sure the member understands that although he/she is not an employee, there are office policies and procedures that he/she will need to follow such as: Appropriate dress and appearance (if applicable) Members are provided with minimal service gear but should be required to wear their AmeriCorps name badge/ place sticker at workstation. Expectations regarding issues such as language, cell phone use, smoking, etc. Driving expectations during service Other policies and procedures (list) ______________________________________________ Office has a visible AmeriCorps Sign, as well as a list of prohibited activities. Members will receive $1,013.46 (pre-tax) biweekly This is NOT an income No members with current benefits will lose them Members can apply for benefits Except unemployment Living Allowance This is not an hourly wage and will stay consistent throughout a member s service Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22
After completing a successful year members will receive an education award of $6,345 The award is dealt with completely through the AmeriCorps Website Segal AmeriCorps Education Award Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22

Grievance Policy Civil Rights/ Harassment Familiarize yourself with your program s grievance policy. Familiarize yourself with your program s policies. While charging time to the AmeriCorps Program, staff and members may not engage in prohibited activities Individuals may exercise their rights as private citizens and may participate in the activities on their initiative, on non-AmeriCorps time, and using non-Corporation funds. Individuals should not wear the AmeriCorps logo while doing so. Rule Change All Host-Sites will now have to post the prohibited activities in the office their member is working Prohibited Activities Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22
Attempting to influence legislation; Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; Assisting, promoting, or deterring union organizing; Impairing existing contracts for services or collective bargaining agreements; Prohibited Activities Engaging in partisan political activities, or other activities designed to influence the outcome of an election to any public office; Participating in, or endorsing, events or activities that are likely to include advocacy for or against political parties, political platforms, political candidates, proposed legislation, or elected officials; Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22
Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship Providing a direct benefit to: a business organized for profit; a labor union; a partisan political organization; a nonprofit organization that fails to comply with the restrictions contained in section 501(c)(3) Prohibited Activities Conducting a voter registration drive or using Corporation funds to conduct a voter registration drive; Providing abortion services or referrals for receipt of such services; and Such other activities as the Corporation may prohibit. Each Member will submit one timesheet per 2-week pay period for the duration of service. Supervisor will then approve the following week The Program reserves the right to withhold the pay check of any member who fails to submit a Time Sheet by the Wednesday following the end of a pay period. Time Keeping Please note that in order to be considered complete, a Time Sheet must include a bi-weekly service log Make Up Time If a member fall behind on hours exceeding 30 hours they will have to make a plan with their supervisor and Program Manager will check in Supervisors are kept up to date with member hours monthly, through a monthly report Accessing Home AmeriCorps Host-Site Orientation 21- 22
Minimum hours per pay period: 70 hours (35 hours per week) Total time off: 2 weeks ( 80 hours) If the requested time off exceeds 5 days in a row, the member and supervisor must inform the program manager at least a week prior Time Off Zero Hour Prohibition: Members may not take vacation during the first or last pay period of service.
