  1. Todays Learning Objectives Read Act One scene Two Look at the film version of the scene to get an overview of the characters. Students will be able to identify the characters within the scene, give some details about them and understand how/if they are involved in the themes of love or magic. Pupils will also be able to identify the plot development of the scene.

  2. Questions The workers are going to put on a play for Theseus wedding: 1. What play are they planning to perform? What do we learn about the story of the play? 2. Who is in charge? Are there any problems caused by any character during the scene? Would you be bothered by this behaviour? 3. Do you think this scene is funny? Do these characters make the play seem more like a comedy? If so how?

  3. Further questions 1. Describe each character in one word 2. Having seen the way these characters behave, How do you think the performance will go? Give a few sentences description. 3. If you were Quince, how would you react to Bottom s behaviour. Write a few sentences about what you would say to Bottom if you were in this position. 4. Do you think Theseus will enjoy this play being performed at his wedding? Why?

  4. Next Lesson We will be continuing to look at the characters of Act 1 scene 2 We will have a deeper look at the different and include personal responses to these characters. And how these characters belong to the theme of love or magic.
