Introduction Health Informatics - to facilitate capture, interchange and use of health-related data, information, and knowledge to support and enable all aspects of health systems
Health Informatics Health informatics is a multidisciplinary field that includes: + Clinical Informatics Tele Health Disability Informatics
Health Informatics - Types Electronic Health Records (EHRs): Digital patient histories that allow patients, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to access their medical records. + Telemedicine: Remote healthcare services that allow patients to receive care without visiting a clinic. + Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS): Data-driven tools that help clinicians make decisions about patient care. + Health Information Exchange (HIE): Secure systems that allow healthcare providers to share medical data + Public Health Informatics: The use of IT to track public health trends, prevent disease, and educate the public + Wearable Devices: Health monitoring devices that track a patient's health data + Genomics: The use of genetic data to personalize treatment plans + Mobile Health Apps: Health services that can be accessed on mobile devices +
Indian Standards for Health Informatics
Electronic Health Record - IS/ISO/TR 20514 : 2005 Describes a pragmatic classification of electronic health records, provides simple definitions for the main categories of EHR and provides supporting descriptions of the characteristics of electronic health records and record systems. Definition of Electronic Health Record Survey of EHR system definitions The EHR Key aspects covered EHR Systems Context of the EHR
Point-of-Care Medical Device Communication - IS/ISO/IEEE 11073-10201 : 2020 Defines a general object-oriented information model that may be used to structure information and identify services used in point-of-care (POC) medical device communications. Domain information model (DIM) Conformance model DIM class definitions Key aspects covered Service model for communicati ng systems MDIB nomenclature
Genomic Sequence Variation Markup Language (GSVML) - IS 17887 : 2022/ ISO 25720 : 2009 Applicable to the data exchange format that is designed to facilitate the exchange of the genomic sequence variation data around the world, without forcing change of any database schema. GSVML specificatio n Specification requirements and GSVML positioning GSVML developme nt process Key aspects covered GSVML DTD and XML schema GSVML structure
Telehealth standards is need of hour and highly critical for ensuing quality, and safety as we are observing advancing accessibility to mass population in India through various initiatives taken by Governments and NGOs, etc. Tele Health remote healthcare Current Standards Landscape Existing Limitations TeleHealth Tele medicine Virtual Care Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India had released the Recommended Guidelines & Standards for Practice of Telemedicine in India which gave a comprehensive set of recommendations to operate telemedicine services.
Current Standards Landscape & Existing Limitations Non-conventional Telemedicine do not store records shared for teleconsultation hence, resulting in the loss of valuable medical records. The scalability of systems for handling large data, optimized processing, and failover safety needs improvement when systems are considered for larger scale and interoperability. applications used for The (NDB) issued by the MoHFW built on the previous works by identifying a critical set of standards, policies, and practices to build the digital health ecosystem in the country and make all systems and data interoperable Digital Health Blueprint National Due to large diversity in applications, their working models, etc. there is a need to define technical standard(s) to provide a common and interoperable mechanism(s) for the solutions and services to work with each other fostering evolutionary growth of the technology and services while, at the same time, avoid the pitfalls of vendor lock-in and data/service silo.
TeleHealth, Tele medicine & Virtual Care
Disability Informatics Disability Informatics is aimed at collecting, storing, retrieving information related to persons with disabilities to be used by a variety of stakeholders including the professionals, planners, care givers and the Divyangjan. The proposed work item will focus upon collection of Disability related information seamlessly
