Are you ready for this jelly? Exploring learning beyond subject boundaries but with CfE Technologies at the heart of the learning. embedding the design process into learning
Big questions for our children in relation to the health and wellbeing of the planet. What part will design play in this? Image available at: https://dgit.com/best-electric-cars-170/ (Accessed: 30 September 2017)
Image result for drinking straws Does even the humble plastic drinking straw present us with a design challenge? In 2017 the UK pub chain Weatherspoon s decided to ban plastic straws from all its establishments. This was due to their growing concern about pollution. why is the design process of relevance?
What future awaits our children? What does the increasing nature of automation mean for them? Pepper is a robot that interacts with students and answers their questions. Introduced last year as part of a pilot project in Singapore, Pepper helped preschool teachers deliver lessons and told pupils stories. Teachers reported that the robot helped shy students come out of their shell and created a fun, interactive atmosphere to learn in. is a design culture in schools of importance to us then?
The V&A Museum of Design, Dundee wants to have a range of installations made that will sit in the foyer on opening in the summer of 2018. The theme is electricity in design. You have to design an installation that visitors can engage with, interact or/and play with. Image available at: https://www.vandadundee.org/our-story(Accessed: 30 September 2017)

I dont think youre ready for this jelly?!

CfE Technologies 2nd Level Craft, Design, Engineering & Graphics I can extend and enhance my design skills to solve problems and can construct models. TCH 2-09a This learning experience can be developed in such a way that the children would engage with concepts underpinning the design process as they go through the process of ideating, making, testing, refining and presenting. That experience could be documented as evidence of the thinking behind the process. CfE Technologies: 2nd Level Digital Literacy I can extend and enhance my knowledge of digital technologies to collect, analyse ideas, relevant information and organise these in an appropriate way. TCH 2-01a The example given in this this learning experience can enable the children to develop their skills in the capture, editing and then purposeful us of digital audio. A couple of lessons to teach the children how to do this so that they could then manage this skill in their own learning would be required. Image available at: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=jelly&rlz=1C1GCEC_enGB757GB757&tbm=isch&source= lnt&tbs=sur:f&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi_xdOopM3WAhXNPFAKHdFqCt4QpwUIHw&biw=1024&b ih=730&dpr=1.25#imgrc=GHetCtH56bKMNM:(Accessed: 30 September 2017)
CfE Technologies 2nd Level Electricity I have used a range of electrical components to help to make a variety of circuits for differing purposes. I can represent my circuit using symbols and describe the transfer of energy around the circuit. SCN 2-09a This learning experience can be followed up with ab activity where the learning experience sees the children drawing a circuit to explain how their installation works. In respect of Breadth and Depth mention will be made of previous learning in science in relation to the concept of conductivity. Exploring new learning and bringing previous learning to further consolidate that.
