Celebration Sunday! Recap of 1 Peter Seems fitting that we look at a name of God and a title attributed to Him by David that relates directly to both 1 Peter and what we re celebrating as a family today

El Simchath Gili (or Simchah Giyl) Psalm 43 God my exceeding joy Nehemiah 8:9-10 John 15:11 John 10:10b Galatians 2:20 Psalm 21:1-2, 6-7
Tie it all together Philippians 4:4, 11-13 1 Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen Him [Jesus], you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory

It will only get harder for the Church God is our victory banner & our exceeding joy. We can focus on what s going wrong in the world and get bogged down in pessimism and cynicism. Or we can recognize that God is still calling His children to follow Jesus in baptism and take a stand. He is still calling His children to commit to a body of believers. Let us celebrate and be joyful!
