Lira Sagynbekova, a Research Fellow at the Mountain Societies Research Institute, University of Central Asia, is dedicated to promoting local development in mountain areas through bioeconomy initiatives. She holds a PhD in Human Geography and actively engages in projects related to ecosystem services, resilience of semi-arid economies, and paleoclimate studies in Central Asia. Lira's work involves participatory monitoring, data collection on climatic parameters, pasture conditions, water resources, and wildlife. Beyond her academic pursuits, she is involved in citizen science projects and enjoys basketball as a hobby.
