  1. Starter task Name as many waves as you can from the electromagnetic spectrum? Which waves do the letters IR and UV stand for? Which wave can we use for cooking?

  2. Electromagnetic spectrum summary The electromagnetic spectrum is a spectrum of waves both visible and invisible The visible part of the spectrum is made up of the colours of the rainbow: ROYGBIV and makes all the colours we see. Colours can be made by mixing the primary colours RBG. The invisible part of the spectrum consists of microwaves, Infra-red, Ultraviolet, Radio waves and gamma waves. These are all types of radiation and have some good and bad points. IR is a form of heat and is useful for firefighters and the army. UV comes from the sun but can give us sunburn, but we can use it for security. Microwaves are used to cook things and radio waves bring us TV and radio. Finally gamma waves can be quite dangerous as they can cause cancer and turn you into the hulk but can also be used to kill cancer cells!!!

  4. Your task Produce a poster to show all the waves from the electromagnetic spectrum It must include the title The Electromagnetic spectrum And have either word and/ or pictures for each type of waves You can ask me to print pictures from the internet but you must find them first! Or you can draw your own pictures.
