(11) And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelt by Beer-lahai-roi. (12) Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bore unto Abraham. Why doesn t Abraham want the servant to take Isaac to Abraham s hometown? 6. Review Question-What does 24:12 reveal of the servant s heart when it states, And he said, O YHWH, Elohim of my master Abraham, I pray thee, to have a good encounter this day and show mercy unto my master Abraham. 7. Review Question-In 24:14, what is the servant s action called and why? 8. And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to YHWH and not to men. (Colossians 3:23) How do Abraham and his servant demonstrate this principle?

TORAH PARASHAH #5 CHAYEI SARAH Haftarah - 1 Kings 1:1 - 31 What phrase in verse five warns you this story is probably not going to end well for Adonijah? 1. Reading this account of Adonijah and Solomon begs the question, how well did David s children do in life? List his children and briefly explain their fate. 2. We read of leaders who stayed loyal to David and leaders who joined Adonijah. Share a time in your life when you had to choose between righteous and unrighteous people. How did your choice affect your spiritual life? 3. Reflect and comment on the behavior of Bathsheba, Nathan and Zadok in this matter, and how their actions preserved the will of YHWH in having Solomon reign as king. 4. Notice how King David reacted to this open rebellion against his will and the will of YHWH. What lessons can we learn in this matter?

TORAH PARASHAH #5 CHAYEI SARAH Gospel - John 4:3 - 14 In this biblical account, we read part of the famous story of Yeshua and the woman at the well. 6. Why do the Samaritans and Jews have no dealings with each other (v. 9), when Samaritans call Jacob their father (v. 12), and Jacob is identified as a father/patriarch of the Jews (Gen. 35:23, Mat. 1:2, Luke 1:33, Acts 3:13, 7:8)? 7. Given the situation between Jews and Samaritans, give three examples where Yeshua bridges the cultural rift between the Jews and the Samaritans? (Hint-two are in this account.)

TORAH PARASHAH #5 CHAYEI SARAH Gospel - John 4:3 - 14 8. Regarding the living water Yeshua describes to the Samaritan woman, give biblical examples of this water and how verse 14 is a fulfillment of prophecy. 9. Verse 10 states, Yeshua answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of Elohim, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. What is this gift of Elohim and how would the woman know to ask of Him? (Hint-look for Tanach scriptures regarding the Messiah.)
