  1. WIND POWER - - - - - What is wind power ? Fields of usage Wind Power in Turkiye Wind Power in Zonguldak Benefits of Wind Power

  2. What is Wind Power ? Wind power or wind energy describes the process by which the wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power. This mechanical power can be used for specific tasks (such as grinding grain or pumping water), or can be converted into electricity by a generator. You can learn how wind turbines make electricity and see an illustration of the components inside a wind turbine, or view a wind power animation that shows how moving air rotates a wind turbine s blades and how the internal components work to produce electricity.

  3. Uses of wind energy Some of the uses of wind energy are mentioned below. generating electricity. milling grain. pumping water. powering cargo ships (via kites) reducing carbon footprint. sailing. windsurfing. land surfing. Once created, power can be utilized, linked to the electrical grid, or stored for later use.

  4. Wind Power in Turkiye Wind power generates about 10% of Turkey's electricity, mainly in the west in the Aegean and Marmara regions, and is gradually becoming a larger share of renewable energy in the country. As of 2023, Turkey has 11 gigawatts (GW) of wind turbines. The Energy Ministry plans to have almost 30 GW by 2035. The state-owned Electricity Generation Company (E A ) has about 20% of the market, and there are many private companies. The highest ever daily share of wind power was 25%, in 2022. Building new wind farms is cheaper than running existing coal plants which depend on imported coal. According to modelling by Carbon Tracker, new wind will be cheaper than all existing coal plants by 2027.

  5. Wind Power in Zonguldak There are 23 wind turbines in Zonguldak and there is 1 Wind Farm Details City: Geyve Turbine(s): 23 Total nominal power: 120,000 kW Under construction Onshore wind farm Localisation Latitude: 40 30' 7" Longitude: 30 28' 43.8" Geodetic system: WGS84 Precise localization: no

  6. Benefits of Wind Power Here is some benefits of wind power; - Renewable energy - Inexhaustible - Not pollutant - Reduces the use of fossil fuels - Reduces energy imports - Creates wealth and local employment - Contributes to sustainable development
