Fair-Weather simply means an action is dependent on something (pleasant/profitable) We have fair-weather everything: Golfer Hunter Fisher Gardener Relationships Friends / Teammates Are you a Fair-Weather Christian?
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Waits for opportune times for everything Looks at the forecast and lets that determine involvement I will come to services when it is best for me. Right now is not a good time for me to teach/ lead/ etc. We must not let the forecast determine our spiritual involvement Do not let anything hinder you from: Being at worship services, Heb. 10:25 Growing as a child of God, 2 Pet. 3:18; Eph. 4:15; Heb. 6:1- 2 Teaching His Word, Mark 16:15-16; 2 Tim. 3:16; Col. 3:16
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Demonstrates His/ Her priorities are not where they should be I would rather not _______ when it is raining. I do not enjoy _______ enough to do so in difficult/unpleasant conditions. Apply this statement to things of a spiritual nature.. I would rather not come to services when I feel threatened by the elders. But if things were more pleasant I would come. (If the weather was better, I would go) Bumps along the road will come as a Christian; BUT one cannot give up
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Is very dedicated when its right for them (When it s not raining..) Serves God when its easy / benefits them If the weather is right (things in general are going well), they are in it When the weather begins to worsen, their dedication begins to waver We must not let anything make us waver spiritually, Eph. 6:10; Ps. 118:14
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Is not fully invested They are like the lukewarm church, Rev. 3:14-22
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Puts his or her desires / dislikes above their love for serving God God says to worship Him, Ps. 113:3; Phil. 2:9-11 How does He feel when we respond, I would love to worship You, but the time isn t right for me. Maybe when things get better, God. The Fair-Weather Christian is acting selfish!
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Show an obvious lack of commitment / dedication Shouldn t we be committed to our faith above all things? Matt. 22:37-38; Gal. 2:20 We must be committed to the fullest degree, all in mindset This commitment will produce much good
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Quits when things get hard We must have some spiritual stick-to-itiveness, Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13; Joshua 1:9
THE FOUL-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: They are not at God s service, God is at their service When I need you, I will find you. When things are good, God is not in their mind, Ps. 16:8 When things are bad, Cry s to God are constant for help Are you a Foul-Weather Christian?
THE ALL-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Will not let anything stop him / her from attending services; growing; maturing, 2 Pet. 3:14-18 Will always keep God and serving Him as their top priority, Matt. 6:33 Will not let bad-weather stop them, James 1:12 Remain constant throughout / unwavering to God, Gal. 6:9 Is a role-model for all Christians, 1 Tim. 4:12; Matt. 5:16 Strive to be an All-Weather Christian!
THE FAIR-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Remains faithful as long as things are sunny THE FOUL-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Becomes faithful out of necessity when the sun turns into a storm THE ALL-WEATHER CHRISTIAN: Serves God and remains faithful throughout all seasons WHICH ARE YOU?
