ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON CREDITS Math Math World Languages World Languages Students who take level 1 language in middle school from the 2016-2017 school year onward can earn a high school credit and count towards 1 of 2 credits in the completer program requirement. 4-year Colleges/Universities prefer and sometimes require that students to take 2 years at the high school level, up to level 3. Students who take Algebra I or Geometry in middle school from the 2016-2017 school year onward can earn high school math credits towards the 4 required for graduation. By MD Law, students must still enroll in a math class every school year.

PROJECT LEAD THE WAY Introduction to Engineering and Design Principles of Engineering Overview of engineering and engineering technology Exposes students to major concepts they will encounter in a postsecondary engineering course of study Topics will include: mechanisms, energy, statics, materials, and kinematics Develop problem-solving skills and apply knowledge of research and design to create solutions to various challenges Emphasizes the development of design Hands-on projects, utilizing engineering standards and applications First course in Project Lead the Way- students interested in pursuing engineering Meets Technology graduation Meets Technology graduation requirement requirement **3rd and 4th Courses in PLTW are TBD
DUAL ENROLLMENT Dual Enrollment High school student taking courses at high school and college simultaneously; Dually enrolled. College Credit only: Student takes college course at HCC, but it does not go onto high school transcript. High school and college class are separate. Student will send both high school transcript and college transcript when applying to college in senior year. Dual Credit: Student takes a course through HCC. Course fulfills an HCPS graduation requirement and goes onto HCPS transcript. College course GPA and grade will factor into high school GPA and rank. REGISTRATION TIMELINE January 13th January 13th: Counselor Presentations to each grade level during PAWSE. Homeroom teachers will distribute forms Check registration resources, talk with your parents, talk with your teachers, consult your counselor and make course selection and program decisions for next year January 23 January 23rd rd March 3 students during English classes for individual conferences to review students course selections. Students will input course requests. March 3rd rd: : Counselors meet with April: April: Course Verifications will be emailed to students, final opportunity to verify correct course registration and request a course change.
