  6. Tides Tides The daily rise and fall of earth s waters on it s coastlines. 6

  7. Hemispheres Hemispheres One half of the sphere that makes up the earth s surface. 7

  8. Tilt Tilt The leaning of the earth s imaginary axis at 23.5 degrees off of vertical. 8

  9. Axis Axis An imaginary line that passes through earth s center and the north and south poles, about which the earth rotates. 9

  10. Revolution Revolution The movement of an object around another object. 10

  11. Rotation Rotation The spinning motion of a planet on its axis. 11

  12. Constellations Constellations patterns of stars in the sky. 12

  13. Solar System Solar System The sun and the bodies that revolve around it. 13

  21. Waning Waning The phase of the moon in which the size of its visible portion is decreasing. 21

  22. Crescent Crescent When the moon resembles the letter C or the letter C backwards. 22

  23. Gibbous Gibbous Almost a full moon; approximately 90% illuminated. 23
