  2. 1. Fibroadenoma, Breast . It is a tromal tumor, most common benign tumor of the female breast . Age- most in 20-30, multiple, bilateral palpable mass. . In older women, it appears as a mammographic density or clustered calcification . Epithelial component is hormonally responsive . Typically increase in size due to lactational changes during pregnancy . 4. Microscopic features . Composed of both epithelium & fibrous stromal components . Epithelium components form glandular structures, lined by mammary duct-type epithelium . The stromal component is a loose, cellular form of fibrous tissue In very large mass stromal may be myxomatous . Two patterns of growth 1. Pericanalicular pattern: . the epithelial component takes the form of rounded ducts which remain small & undistorted. . The stroma arranged round them in a roughly symmetrical and regular manner. 2. Intracanalicular pattern: . The ducts appear elongated but actually represent sections cut through flattened spaces . Compressed by stromal component which appears to proliferate in an irregular nodular manner. 4/16/2025 4
