From reactive to proactive approach: support risk management strategies Consistent with the evolution of the EU policy framework, EIB has progressively shifted its focus from pure reconstruction interventions to support for projects / programmes that : Focus on risk management, prevention, preparedness support for the development and implementation of risk-management strategies, including through TA and EIB experts advisory services Combine infrastructure with soft components and TA (e.g. improved data, institutional strengthening, coordination, etc.) Added emphasis on Climate-related risks Flood risk management activities pioneered the approach EIB Guide for the Preparation of Flood Risk Management Schemes (2008) http://www.eib.org/infocentre/publications/all/eib-flood-risk-management- guide.htm July 2012 (hopefully ) 13
