First-Generation Symposium: Two Year College Edition First-Generation Symposium: Two Year College Edition Sonny Kelly, PhD Sonny Kelly, PhD Scholar, teacher, performer, storyteller, writer & director Communication Instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College Research is focused on Critical Performance Ethnography, Critical Pedagogy, and Youth Activism/Empowerment Creator of The Talk, a one-man show he wrote and performs that dramatizes the difficult conversation he had with his own son about the racialization of America His recent dissertation entitled Pipelines to Pathways: Reframing and Reclaiming Black Youth Identity through Performance presents a critical performance-centered approach to the criminalization of Black youth and the School to Prison Pipeline
