  1. 2016 FMEA All State Orff Ensemble A Work in Progress

Orff Task Force Development FEMEA Board approved creating an Orff Ensemble Task Force July 2014 Lisa Hewitt appointed as FMEA All State Orff Ensemble Chair; Sandy Lantz/Gretchen Wahlberg selected as first conductors Task Force includes Julie Hebert, Marie Radloff, April Laymon, Anita Travaglino, Lisa Hewitt, Sandy Lantz, and Gretchen Wahlberg

Things to know Task Force met in September 2014 to discuss audition process, rubrics, possible schedule for rehearsal/concert, and future clinicians Audition protocol and rubrics were developed at this meeting; alignment with choral rubrics was considered for consistency Auditions will be videos uploaded online; privacy issues will be addressed as a priority Audition will include the following key aspects of the Orff Schulwerk process: singing, playing, imitation, and improvisation

Audition Information Audition includes: Sing: Are You Sleeping in canon with the teacher Play: Pop Goes the Weasel on recorder Play: Wahlberg Piece on alto xylophone Perform: two 8-beat body percussion rhythmic echoes after teacher pattern (scripted) Improvise: two 8-beat body percussion answers in response to a teacher-given scripted rhythmic question

Adjudication & Repertoire Adjudication requirements: minimum of Orff Level I towards Orff Certification; an official Adjudication Endorsement will not be required the first year but will be reviewed as necessary Repertoire guidelines: Volumes piece Canon Improvisation - World Music - Folk Song - Commissioned piece

  6. Fees $10 audition fee $25 Participation fee in keeping with FMEA All State Elementary Chorus Monies will be spent on music, ensemble t-shirt, specific materials requested by clinician (Cost of hotel for the parent.)

  7. Proposed Rehearsal Days/Times Proposed Thursday/Friday Schedule Student Check-in Thursday 11:15 AM 11:55 AM, TCC West Exhibit Hall Thursday Rehearsal 12:00 PM 8:00 PM, TCC West Exhibit Hall Friday Rehearsal 8:00 AM 11:00 AM Friday Concert 1:00PM, Ballroom A-B-C
