INTRODUCTION Follow-up is an important part of evangelism. It involves visiting a boy or a girl whom you have preach to the love of God and that child equally accept Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Discipleship on the other hand, is a second step in training a convert to become mature fruitful believer. A new convert may not yet fully understand what the gospel is all about. He is like a child taken to the school for the first time. His first day is filled with fear and confusion. Therefore, he may cry for most part of the day. New convert needs follow-up and much encouragement both from the church and from the child whom the Lord used to bring him to Christ.
INTRODUCTION CONTD. The study is in three parts: 2-PARTTERN OF FOLLOW UP AND DISCIPLESHIP 3-PROFIT OF FOLLOW-UP AND DISCIPLESHIP 1-PURPOSE OF FOLLOW-UP
1. THE PURPOSE OF FOLLOW-UP: Acts 14:21, 22; 15:36 Matthew 28:19 When you preach to a sinful child and He gives his heart to Jesus, you become his spiritual father or mother of that new friend of Jesus. As a spiritual father or mother, you have some roles to play which are: 1: To prayerfully visit the convert to teach and train him in the way of the Lord. 4: Show him how to do quiet time and have fellowship with God every morning. 3: Guide and teach him how to understand the word of God. 2: Show the child how he can have assurance of salvation.
1. THE PURPOSE OF FOLLOW- UP CONT D. 5: Teach him how to run away from sin, false prophets and teachers. 6: He should be taught the importance of fellowship and the attendance of weekly meetings. 7: Encourage him to learn how to pray for himself and others. 8: Show a new convert that salvation is just a beginning of the Christian life. He needs to press on for experiences like sanctification and Holy Ghost baptism. others Christian All these will make him to grow strong in the Lord Jesus and become true disciple.
2. PARTTERN OF FOLLOW UP AND DISCIPLESHIP: Acts 14:21- 28; 15: 35,36, 41; Mark 3:14; Philippians 2:19-22 Jesus Christ our Saviour is the greatest soulwinner. He has given us some methods to use for follow- up and discipling new converts. This include: i- Personal contact for purposeful visitation and counseling ii- Intercessory prayer: You must always pray for your new friends of Jesus to grow and be established in the faith.
2. PARTTERN OF FOLLOW UP AND DISCIPLESHIP CONTD. iii. Letter writting, text messages and phones calls: these are used in order to teach and encourage new convert to stay away from sin. iv. Your personal example of devotion and love for God is powerful to help new converts grow to maturity.
3. PROFIT OF FOLLOW-UP AND DISCIPLESHIP: 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2:1-2 Acts 11:25,26 When you follow-up and disciple a new convert in a proper way, that new convert will become a follower of Jesus himself and will win others also. There will be spiritual and numerical growth in children church. Prayers will be answered. The power of God will be continual in our church. There will be love and care among believers.
3. PROFIT OF FOLLOW-UP AND DISCIPLESHIP CONTD. Jesus is counting on saved boys and girls to preach the gospel, follow-up new converts and also disciple them. If you are not yet saved, you cannot preach the gospel. You can come to Jesus and tell him that you are sorry for your bad ways. Ask for forgiveness and cleansing in his precious blood. Jesus will forgive you if you are sincere in your prayer. You will become a child of God.

LESSON, THOUGHT, AND ACTIVITY LESSON: Follow-up and discipleship are two most important tools which help converts to grow. THOUGHT: I will be involved following-up new converts. ACTIVITY: Children should be paired and given materials for the purpose of going out during the week to evangelize and follow-up new converts/comers.
