Renewable vs Nonrenewable Resources Fossil Fuels and Consumption
Learning Targets! LT 6. I can measure fossil fuel consumption and how they are traded. (14.1 14.2) LT 7. I can compare and contrast the pros and cons of consuming fossil fuels (14.1 14.2)
The use of our resources *People transform the earth s land, water, and air for their benefit * of the world s population lives in developed countries but those same people consume most of the world s energy and generate most of its pollutants *2 billion people live without clean water or sewers *1 billion live in cities with unsafe sulfur dioxide levels
People living in a way we cant imagine... Slumming It - Episode 1 As you are watching this think about some of the problems faced by these people. The obstacles they face that we don t even think about. The human and environmental interaction and the lack of resources...
Nonrenewable Energy Resources -Fossil Fuels -A residue of plants and animals that were buried millions of years ago Coal Petroleum Natural gas
Non Renewable Energy -Forms so slowly that for practical purposes the supply is finite -Fossil Fuels -Nuclear energy
Renewable Energy -Energy that is replaced continually or at least within a human life span -Has an essential unlimited supply and is not depleted
The History and Future of Energy 300 Years of Fossil Fuels in 300 Seconds!
Answer the following questions... Using the web: 1.
