What Counselors do? Guide students in planning, monitoring, and managing their academic development through their IGP. This includes reviewing grades, credits, and course selections. Classroom presentations about scheduling classes, credits, attendance, and graduation progression. Provide responsive counseling interventions through individual and group sessions. Advocate for students and families. Honor confidentiality. Support students in developing personal and social awareness (coping skills and peer relations).
Mental Health Providers on Campus Mental Health Provider: Sherry Ward is a counselor who provides short-term counseling services to students. She offers individual and group counseling covering topics such as anxiety, depression, study skills, coping skills, grief and loss, and transitional adjustments. Behavioral Health Provider: Natosha Pena is a counselor who is able to provide short or long-term counseling services to students. More information will be shared on the DHS website including the consent form. Topics covered will be determined as needed.
The Goal is GRADUATION! Complete one of the following Louisiana Graduation Pathways: TOPS University Jump Start Pass required LEAP 2025 Exams Attend school regularly Complete the FAFSA during senior year
Graduation Pathways: TOPS University English Math Science Social Studies Language: Arts: PE/Health Electives 4 Credits 4 Credits 4 Credits 4 Credits 2 Credits 1 Credit 2 Credits 3 Credits 24 Credits Total: TOPS Graduation Pathway leads to high school graduation. TOPS Scholarship requires a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and a 20 ACT to earn $$$ for college.
Graduation Pathway: Jump Start TOPS Tech 2.0 Jump Start 2.0 (Freshmen/Sophomores/Juniors) Students must earn 9 career based electives From 11 Career Pathways: Agriculture, Architecture, Arts/Tech & Communications, Business, Health Sciences, Hospitality & Culinary, Human Services, Info Tech, Law/Public Safety, Manufacturing, Transportation. Require only one credential. Jump Start TOPS Tech Diploma 2.0 lead to graduation. Jump Start TOPS Tech Scholarship 2.0 requires a 2.5 GPA and a minimum 17 on the ACT
LEAP 2025 In order to graduate students must pass: English I or English II Algebra I or Geometry Biology or US History **Students who were enrolled in a LEAP class Spring 2020, are exempt from that particular LEAP Test (Algebra I, English I, or Biology I).
Attendance Policy Students are allowed 5 absences per 1 Credit Course. Students are allowed 2 days per credit course. Parents notes can be used for the first 5 absences. Attendance Recovery: If you miss more than five days in a particular class, you will lose credit regardless of how well you are doing in that class. If you miss more than 10 days (30 hours) you will lose credit. You will have to reach out for an extenuating circumstance. YOU MUST sign up via Google Classroom (dcrvcyz).
How to become an Upperclassman Earn Credits for each class: Students can earn up to 8 credits per school year. Earn credits by passing classes which includes attending class regularly. Grading Scale: A 100-93 B 92-85 C 84-75 D Students whose average is below 60 will be assigned a 60 for the first three grading quarters, however in the 4th quarter you will receive the grade you earn. In order to be a sophomore students must earn at least 6 credits, 4 must be core classes (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, PE) 74-67 F 66-below In order to be a junior students must earn at least 11 credits, 7 in required courses.
So what is AA and what is its purpose? A school program that provides students with academic, social-emotional, and future-planning support. It is also an opportunity for students to develop a trusting relationship with an adult on campus. Like anything else in life, what you get from AA is what you put into AA. Make it meaningful. After all, this program will help build your future. Naviance Naviance is an American college and career readiness software provider that has partnered with St. Charles Parish School to provide students with college planning and career assessment tools. Freshmen and Sophomores will be assigned tasks designed to assist them in exploring learning styles and career interests. Students can find Naviance already loaded on their google waffle. Whats the difference between Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment? Advanced Placement Dual Enrollment - AP credit is honored nationally/ - *DE credit is recognized by LA public globally. universities and some private/out-of- state universities. - AP courses are taught by DHS - DE courses are taught by faculty with AP-approved faculty in a course designed curricula. by Southeastern University. - The AP test is given in May and course credit it awarded for scores students who meet the initial ACT of 3, 4, or 5, based on the guidelines requirement and pass required the set by that university. in-course tests/assessments. - DE credit is awarded to 11th& 12thgrade - Does not impact college transcript - College credit on the permanent college transcript
