Are your students still struggling with the difference between plural nouns and possessive nouns? Break out this fun game to keep them engaged and having fun while practicing this skill.
Many writers are stumped when it comes to using apostrophe s. Often they ll use the apostrophe s to show that a noun is plural - to indicate more than one. When indicating plurality, the apostrophe IS NOT NEEDED! This activity goes perfectly with the plural/possessive nouns section in your Editing and Revising Guide. This fun and engaging game is quick, easy, and can be played with little to no prep. You can also tie it in with other topics you are learning about. Each student needs their own set of slappy hands. (Options for creating these are on slide 4. ) The teacher reads aloud a sentence that uses a plural noun or possessive noun in it. Students have to slap the correct hand dictating whether the noun was plural or possessive and justify their answer with evidence from the sentence.
