  2. Agenda Welcome Land Acknowledgement Guidelines for the Non-use of Racial Slurs and Epithets Working Session: Develop Networking Event Summary Vote: Selection Committee for Parent Applications 2024/25 Annual Review: Start, Stop, Continue Adjournment

  3. Land Acknowledgement We acknowledge that we are on land and surrounded by water, originally inhabited by Indigenous Peoples who have travelled this area since time immemorial. This territory is within the lands honoured by the Wampum Treaties; agreements between the Anishinaabe (Ah-nish-e-naa-bay), Haudenosaunee (Hoe-den-oh-show-nee), Lenni (Len-eh), Lenape (Le- naw-pay) and allied Nations to peacefully share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Specifically, we would like to acknowledge the presence of the Three Fires Confederacy Ojibwey (Oh-job-way), Odawa (Oh-dah-wah), Potawatomi (Paw-taw-watt-oh-me) and Huron/Wendat (Wen-dat) Peoples. We are dedicated to honouring Indigenous history and culture while remaining committed to moving forward respectfully with all First Nations, Inuit and Metis

Purpose of GECPIC The purpose of the Greater Essex County Parent Involvement Committee (GECPIC) is to support, encourage and enhance parent involvement at the Board level to support improved student achievement and well-being. The Greater Essex County District School Board supports the vision of parents/guardians as both valued partners and active participants in their children s education GECPIC shall achieve its purpose by: Providing information and advice on parent/guardian engagement to the Board; Communicating with and supporting School Councils of the Board; and Undertaking activities to help parents/guardians of pupils of the Board support their children s learning at home and at school
