What is AB 928? AB 928 (Berman): Ed Code 66749.8 establishes the ADT Intersegmental Implementation Committee requires ICAS to establish a singular lower division general education pathway requires the CCCs to automatically place students on ADT pathways Source: CCCCO Presentation at SCIAC
AB 928 Implementation Status On April 25, 2022, the Intersegmental Committee of Academic Senates (ICAS) received and voted to approve a recommendation from the ICAS Special Committee on AB 928 (Berman, 2021) that revises the current Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) framework. The proposed framework will provide a singular transfer pathway that holds the total number of course units to 34. Summary of Proposed Changes UC will accept Oral Communication as a new (third) course in Area 1-English Communication. The CCC will revise and strengthen courses fulfilling the Oral Communication subject requirement to meet new core competencies. The number of courses required in Area 3 -Arts and Humanities will decrease from three to two (one in Arts, one in Humanities). UC will remove its Language Other than English proficiency requirement from IGETC and treat it as a graduation requirement. CSU will remove its Lifelong Learning and Self-Development course from IGETC and treat it as an upper-division requirement. Source: ASCCC Email
