ALUMNI CERTIFICATION OVERVIEW ALUMNI CERTIFICATION OVERVIEW
Why the Certification? Why the Certification? -To ensure GICH Alumni Communities continue to address affordable housing issues by utilizing the Housing Plan document developed during the program -To reward the communities that continue to work with GICH teams after graduation -Additional point(s) on LIHTC and CHIP applications from the Department of Community Affairs (DCA)
Certification Requirements (Part 1) Certification Requirements (Part 1) 1. GICH Team Continuity the Team shall be responsible for submitting an updated Team Roster to reflect any changes made to the team 2. Continuing Education the Team shall document participation of at least ONE team representative in at least ONE GICH Retreat per year. Must also provide evidence that the representative reported back to the rest of the Team with updates at a regularly scheduled meeting. - At least 4 members of the Alumni Team must also attend at least ONE form of continuing education on affordable housing issues per year (e.g., webinars, GICH retreats, local trainings, workshops). These programs can be free.
Certification Requirements (Part 2) Certification Requirements (Part 2) 3. Annual Performance Team must provide evidence of a schedule and minutes from regularly held GICH meetings At minimum, 2 meetings with a majority of active team members in the prior year 4. Updated Housing Plan As part of certification packet, Alumni must send a GICH Housing Plan updated in the past three years If the Team has not updated its Housing Plan in the past three years, a progress report of steps taken to implement plan may be sufficient
Certified Alumni Status Certified Alumni Status - GICH Alumni Certification is valid for two (2) years. To stay certified, alumni teams must re-submit an application every two years. - Recent graduates of GICH will automatically become certified alumni for the two years following graduation - DCA will continue to accept applications for new and/or continuing GICH Alumni Certification every year
