Location GGM is one of the five municipalities in mopani It is located in the far north of limpopo It borders in the east with KNP and baphalaborwa municipality. On the west with Makhado and in the north with Thulamela. It also shares its borders with Tzaneen and Letaba on the south.
Location cont.. It is plus minus 180 km fro Polokwane 400km from Pretoria 450 km from Joburg 30km to Kruger national park via Shangoni gate.
Heritage sites Only one heritage sites has since been declared Baleni(production of salt and also natural hot spring) In addition there is also a statue of the tsonga Shangaan people Hosi Nghunghunyani located at Giyani information center.
Economy The local economy is based on tourism and agriculture Mining happen at a lesser scale(24 mines are disused) Agriculture is the backbone of the local economy. LED strategy is currently under review and will be adopted in june 2014
Economy cont Proximity to KNP is also a competitive advantage for tourism. Opening of Shangoni gate will a catalyst to economic growth.
