Global Navigation Amid Crisis
In a presentation by AACO Secretary General Abdul Wahab Teffaha on October 14, 2020, key indicators and estimates regarding the recovery of global traffic from the COVID-19 crisis were discussed. The impact of the crisis is expected to be long-lasting, requiring adaptation to the new normal. Emphasis was placed on the need to address the local spread of infections, the ineffectiveness of quarantine measures for inbound travelers, and the counterproductiveness of arbitrary travel restrictions. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the call to action was to find solutions that consider both public health and economic stability in order to navigate these turbulent times successfully.

ESTIMATES OF TIME FOR RECOVERY OF GLOBAL TRAFFIC FROM COVID-19 CRISIS
CONCLUSION Worst crisis ever. The Impact of this crisis will stay with us for a long time. Yet things can be better by: - Recognizing that spread of infection is 97.1% locally, 2.9% were inbound travelers, and 0.0000004% of transmission of the virus happened on aircraft including prior to mask mandates. We must adapt to the new normal. - Quarantine for inbound travelers has no added value. - Haphazard arbitrary travel restrictions do not help. If governments are waiting for the complete disappearance of the virus, or vaccination, or for the world to be inoculated, by that time there will be no Airlines, Hotels, Restaurants, Travels and hundreds of millions of people without jobs.
