Grade 7 Science Curriculum Overview
The Grade 7 Science curriculum focuses on investigating the diversity of living organisms through categorization based on common characteristics. Students will evaluate historical classification models and engage in various instructional activities to enhance their understanding. Assessments and focus questions drive student learning towards achieving standard-based goals.

STANDARDS AND LEARNING GOALS GA: Grade 7 Life Science S7L1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to investigate the diversity of living organisms and how they can be compared scientifically. a. Develop and defend a model that categorizes organisms based on common characteristics. b. Evaluate historical models of how organisms were classified based on physical characteristics and how that led to the six kingdom system (currently archaea, bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals).
INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES- (WORK SESSION) 1. Vocabulary practice- word list : animals archae asexual reproduction autotroph bacteria eukaryotic fungi heterotroph multicellular plants prokaryotic protists sexual reproduction taxonomy unicellular 2. CURRENT EVENTS SCI WORLD practice activities on reading analysis skills 3. Class daily practice worksheets 4. Use digital media to discuss and see real life examples.
