  1. What is a graduate certificate program? Adds an additional layer of training on top of the training offered in your home department Coursework and professional development requirements Similar to adding a minor as an undergraduate Physics and AP students can participate in the following certificates: Physical and Engineering Biology (PEB) Quantum Materials Science and Engineering (QMSE)

  2. Goal: Train scientists skilled at applying physical and engineering approaches to biology research, and who are also sufficiently sophisticated in their biological training that they can readily identify and tackle cutting- edge problems in the life sciences Requirements: Coursework: Methods & Logic in Interdisciplinary Research, Integrated Workshop, Biophysics*, Modeling Biological Systems II* Professional development requirements: Research presentation, 1 outreach activity, 2 career development activities, check-in with PEB leadership, advance to candidacy Additional benefits: PEB travel fund, opportunities to mentor undergraduates Learn more: peb.yale.edu

  3. Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Quantum Materials Science and Engineering Goal: Train graduate students in the field of quantum materials through collaborative and multidisciplinary research combined with specialized coursework, training programs, and outreach activities Requirements: Coursework: Intro to Quantum Materials Science and Engineering, Machine Learning, Solid State Physics, Quantum Mechanics, 1 Elective Professional development requirements: 2 Research presentations, outreach activity, Monthly cohort meetings, 2 career development activities, check-in with QMSE leadership, advance to candidacy Additional benefits: Funded by an NSF NRT grant (can fund you for 2 years) Monthly cohort meetings provide additional community & training Learn more: qmse.yale.edu
