  1. Grad School Advice Discipline specific advice - If you have not had a discipline specific orientation, contact your program s graduate coordinator for advising. You can locate them via the faculty page of your program s HSU website. Meta-data Librarian: A valuable resource for starting library research (finding the best search terms and data-bases) for theses and MA projects is our meta-data librarian, Brianne Hagen: brianne.hagen@humboldt.edu Work on creating your own narrative to express the value of Arts and Humanities MA degrees and to debunk outdated myths and stereotypes. Think about the audiences you want to speak to and write for in your current and future professional lives and how the MA can help you in this process. - Janet Winston, English Grad Program Coordinator

  2. Student Support Services HSU Basic Needs Website Resources and support for food, housing, technology, physical health, mental health, safety, child-care, disability, and veterans. HSU Basic Needs (humboldt.edu) CARES (Campus Assistance, Response & Advocacy) - supports students who are overcoming extenuating circumstances. This site contains information to assist you in accessing on and off campus resources related to food security, housing needs, mental health services, medical services, alcohol and other drug treatment, and other basic needs. We know that sometimes it can be difficult to access resources on your own, and we are happy to help navigate the process to make it as easy as possible.   3. Cultural Resources The Multicultural Center (MCC) is one of the four Cultural Centers for Academic Excellence. Breath Meditation Focus on your breathing Breath slowly & deeply Observe your breath going in / out Pause for a brief moment Depending on the context: Try doing this for just three breaths Try doing this for a couple of minutes If your attention wanders, gently bring it back to your breath You may count: in 1 .out 1, In 2 .out 2 , if it helps, but it is not necessary to do so. Examples of times to Breath: At a scheduled time Just before class Just before a work shift Before bed When experiencing negative mental / emotional states anger, anxiety, sadness etc.
