Last steps for graduation clearance and credential recommendation in CA By: Lisa Caron Education Program Specialist
Graduation Clearance * During your 2ndseminar course, please be on the lookout for an email from the CA Credential Analyst Nicole Brainard. She will explain the items needed to be cleared for graduation. Items needed to clear you to apply for your diploma: -Passing grade of B or better in both student teaching seminar courses -Completed student teaching DRF (all items are submitted and evaluated) -Student teaching File closed by EPS Lisa Caron -Passing scores on the TPA 3 and 4. You need to earn a score of 3 or 4 to pass. -TPA 4 Permission Slips-Please make sure you send via e-mail/scan, fax or by mail the signed permission slips to the credential analyst Nicole Brainard (Nicole.Brainard@phoenix.edu) Note: If no students appear in your TPA 4 video then please send an email to Nicole Brainard indicating that no one but the student teacher appears in the video. -The Credential Analyst Nicole Brainard will indicate if any other items will be needed for graduation clearance when she emails all student teachers during the 2ndseminar course.
Diploma process YAY! You are cleared (What happens next)? -The credential analyst will notify you and your graduation team (Academic Counselor & Finance Advisor) once you have been cleared to apply for your diploma. -You will need to work with your academic counselor on the process to apply for your diploma. Please contact your assigned academic counselor if you have questions about applying for your diploma. -After your final grade posts in the final seminar course, then a link will populate on your student website. On the left hand side under Quick Links you will want to scroll down to View Messages. There you will find the link to order your diploma. -If you would like to order a copy of your transcript after your degree has conferred, then there is a fee for official copies of your transcript (You can speak with your Academic Counselor about the fee amount). Unofficial copies of your transcript are free. You may request either through the Program Tab, Services section, under the Order Transcripts link.
Credential Recommendation * Once you are officially in graduated status in the University s systems, and you have met all preliminary credentialing requirements, the Credential Analyst Nicole Brainard will submit your preliminary credential recommendation directly to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). * As you prepare for applying for your credential, the most common missing items are listed below. If any of these items are needed, then the credential analyst Nicole Brainard will notify you: -RICA: (This is only needed if you are an elementary multiple subject candidate, single subject candidates do not complete this). You can view this website for RICA testing resources: https://w.taskstream.com/ts/reports/UOPXCaliforniaspecifictestprepresources -CPR Certification: (Must be adult, child and infant and must follow American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. -U.S. Constitution. If this has not been met from prior coursework, then you can meet this requirement by taking an online CTE course at University of Phoenix or by taking an exam: www.usconstitutionexam.com. Please note; the Credential Analyst Nicole Brainard will notify you when reviewing your file during the 2ndseminar course if the U.S. constitution requirement needs to be fulfilled. I have included a list of facts on the US Constitution requirement: Exam Options: Notre Dame University (Online) http://www.usconstitutionexam.com/- Costs about $80.00 and you can do it in a weekend. AP Exams in Government or U.S. History (if holds credit value on transcripts)-will need exam description to verify if acceptable. Need to earn a C or higher grade. CLEP for U.S. History Need to score 50 or better for it to be accepted.
Credential Recommendation (Continued) Coursework Options for U.S. Constitution requirement: Course offered through University of Phoenix Continuing Education Department: HIS 301 (3 credits) California State University--BA/BS degree Automatic (no stipulation on graduation date or grade received per CTC Alert 9/2004) Colleges/Universities (community, junior, or 4 year) Regionally accredited, grade C or better Official Transcripts & course description uploaded to Taskstream Course must cover history of Constitution, US History prior to1865 prior to reconstruction (i.e. Political Science 1, American Gov t) CCAC Survey of approved coursework booklet 2006 http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/cig/HANDBOOKS/Credential- Course-Work.pdf (on CIG) Unacceptable options for U.S. Constitution: Test to become a naturalized citizen UOP course HIS 501 (1 credit only) -CA Credential Recommendation Application: The Credential Analyst Nicole Brainard will provide this to you. You will need to send this to Nicole Brainard once you filled it out. Once this form is received the University Credential Analyst will begin the electronic recommendation process for your credential. Once the information is entered you will be notified via email directly from the CCTC to begin your portion of the recommendation application.
