  7. In order to graduate students must pass: English I or English II Algebra I or Geometry Biology or US History Blue = Freshmen Level Courses RED = Sophomore Level Courses

Students must attend 167 days of school Students are allowed 5 absences per 1 Credit Course Students are allowed 2 days per credit course Parents notes can be used for the first 5 absences Attendance Recovery If you miss more than five days in a particular class, you will loose credit regardless of how well you are doing in that class. DHS students may attend TLC and make up hour for hour for each class period you go over five absences. Extenuating Circumstances

  9. Earn Carnegie Credits for each class Students can earn up to 8 credits per school year. Earn credits by passing classes and attending class regularly Grading Scale: A 100-93 B 92-85 C 84-75 D 74-67 Students who s average is below 60 will be assigned a 60 for the first three grading quarters In order to be a sophomore students must earn at least 5 credits, 4 must be core classes (English, math, science, social studies, PE) F 66-below In order to be a junior students must earn at least10 credits, 7 in required courses.

The Wall Street Journal reports just a few days ago that The crushing weight of student loan debt and the steep rise in home costs have reshaped the financial lives and dreams of young Americans. College tuition has soared 1,375% since 1978, more than four times the rate of inflation (Labor Department) Student Loan debt has quadrupled since the start of 2005 to $1.48 Trillion. Median rent hit an all time high of $1,008 a month, climbing 20% faster than inflation.

CLEP Tests Savings/Investment Accounts - START Program https://www.startsaving.la.gov/ An Account Owner Savings Accounts may select one or more investment funds, including the Louisiana Principal Protection Fund (conservative investments in fixed earnings), various equity mutual funds, and age based track funds. A deposit in the Louisiana Principal Protection Fund is guaranteed by the State of Louisiana. The State will match up to 14% of deposits each year with Earnings Enhancements. Deposits made to an account may be excluded from taxable income reported on the Account Owner's Louisiana tax return, up to $2,400.00 per year per Beneficiary for single Account Owners and up to $4,800 per year per Beneficiary for Account Owners filing a joint return. The Current Value of an account may be used to pay the Qualified Higher Education Expenses of the Beneficiary at any accredited college or university (in or out-of-state), and state-approved proprietary schools in Louisiana. No fees are charged to participants in the START Saving Program. The START Saving Program is exempt from federal taxes. Deposits can made be made through automatic bank debit, payroll deduction, or direct payment (including lump sums). There is no limitation on the frequency and the minimum deposit amount is only $10. Earnings on deposits are exempt from state and federal taxes when used to pay Qualified Higher Education Expenses, which include tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies and equipment required for enrollment by the college.
