Alternate Diploma for Students with a Significant C ognitive Disability Requirements o Only for students with a Significant C ognitive Disability (SC D) are eligible for the Alternate Diploma. o The Alternate Diploma is not equivalent to a traditional high school diploma and is not recognized by postsecondary entities requiring a traditional diploma. o Students are required to participate in the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program Alternate (MAAP-A). Traditional Diploma with C areer & Technical Endorsement Additional Requirements o Earn an overall QPA of 2.5 o Earn Silver level on AC T WorkKeys o Earn two additional Carnegie Units for a total of 26 o *MAAP assessments (state tests) required for graduation o Must successfully complete one of the following: One dual credit course Work-Based Learning experience or C areer Pathways Experience Earn a State Board of Education approved national credential One AP course with a C or higher and take the appropriate AP exam C urriculum Area C arnegie Units Required C ourses English 4 English I English II* Mathematics 4 Algebra I* One additional math above Algebra Science 3 Biology* Social Studies 4 MS Studies World G eography 1 World H istory 1 U.S. H istory* Economics U.S. G overnment Physical Education H ealth Arts 1 C ollege and C areer Readiness 1 C C R A (Freshman Focus) C C R B (Taken in 1 1th or 1 2th grade) Technology or C omputer Science 1 C TE Elective 4 Must complete four C arnegie Units of a sequential program of study Additional Electives 3 Total Units Required 26 Requirements are subject to change as changes are made by Mississippi Department of Education.
Traditional Diploma with Academic Endorsement Additional Requirements o Earn an overall QPA of 2.5 o Two elective courses must meet MS IH L college preparatory curriculum (C PC ) o Earn MS IH L AC T benchmarks sub- scores: 1 7 English and 1 9 Math or take in Essentials of C ollege Math and/or Essentials for C ollege Literacy in senior year o Earn two additional Carnegie Units for a total of 26 o *MAAP assessments (state tests) required for graduation o Must successfully complete one of the following: One AP course with a C or higher and take the appropriate AP exam One academic dual credit course with a C or higher in the course C urriculum Area C arnegie Units Required C ourses English 4 English I English II* English III English IV Mathematics 4 Algebra I* Two additional math above Algebra Science 3 Biology* Two additional science above Biology Social Studies 4 MS Studies World G eography 1 World H istory 1 U.S. H istory * Economics U.S. G overnment Physical Education H ealth Arts 1 C ollege and C areer Readiness 1 C C R A (Freshman Focus) C C R B Must be taken 1 1th or 1 2th) Technology or C omputer Science 1 Additional Electives Two advanced electives of the C PC requirements for MS IH L 7 Total Units Required 26 Requirements are subject to change as changes are made by Mississippi Department of Education.
Traditional Diploma with Distinguished Academic Endorsement C urriculum Area C arnegie Units Required C ourses Additional Requirements o Earn an overall QPA of 3.0 o Two elective courses must meet MS IH L college preparatory curriculum (C PC ) o Earn national AC T readiness benchmarks sub-scores: 1 8 English and 22 Math o Earn three and half additional C arnegie Units for a total of 28 o *MAAP assessments (state tests) required for graduation o Must successfully complete one of the following: One AP course with a B or higher and take the appropriate AP exam One academic dual credit course with a B or higher in the course English 4 English I English II* English III English IV Mathematics 4 Algebra I* Two additional math above Algebra Science 4 Biology* Two additional science above Biology Social Studies 4 MS Studies World G eography 1 World H istory 1 U.S. H istory* Economics U.S. G overnment Physical Education H ealth Arts 1 C ollege and C areer Readiness 1 C C R A (Freshman Focus) C C R B Must be taken 1 1th or 1 2th) Technology or C omputer Science 1 Additional Electives 8 Two advanced electives of the C PC requirements for MS IH L Total Units Required 28 Requirements are subject to change as changes are made by Mississippi Department of Education.
Requirements for Senior Early Dismissal/Late Arrival Students must have one of the following: AC T sub-score of 1 7 in English and 1 9 in Math Silver level on the AC T WorkKeys for C TE Endorsement OR All of the following must be met: 2.5 overall QPA H ave passed or met all MAAP assessments (state tests) required for graduation Be on track to meet diploma requirements and passing all classes Be concurrently in Essentials of C ollege Math and/or Essentials for C ollege Literacy Requirements are subject to change as changes are made by Mississippi Department of Education.
Notes A student earning a Career & Technical Endorsement may also earn an Academic Endorsement or Distinguished Academic Endorsement Endorsements may only be changed with parental permission Students should take a math or math equivalent course during their senior year IHL = Institutions of Higher Learning Requirements are subject to change as changes are made by Mississippi Department of Education.
