Grammar NOUN A naming word, person, place or object. house rose pencil bird
What is a plural? one cat two cats
Plural or Singular? one flower three flowers
Plural or Singular? one hat four hats
Plural A plural word is where we have more than 1 thing. Singular = 1 Plural = More than 1
Watch Out Rules! There are lots of rules when changing words from singular to plural. BE CAREFUL! We are going to look at just two of the rules. LISTENING?
Adding s For most words we just add s to the end of it to change it into a plural. one apple three apples desk desks book books pen pens month months train trains name names
Adding es For others we need to add es to change it to a plural. one brush two brushes box boxes glass glasses quiz dish dishes quizes
Rule! If the word ends with a long s sound or a hiss sound like; sh ch ss - s - x - z then add es
