  5. Funding Opportunity Databases The health system subscribes to two databases to help match your idea to an external sponsor s mission and goals. The two databases are: Community of Science Foundation Directory Online Month Day, Year 5

Community of Science/PIVOT Locating and securing research funding is becoming increasingly competitive, as funding opportunities are limited and the number of researchers vying for those dollars continues to grow. Pivot answers the growing demands on research developers to quickly discover the right funding opportunities and effectively collaborate with their colleagues. 6

Community of Science/PIVOT Pivot is a tool that: Provides access to the most comprehensive source of funding opportunities globally Identifies researcher expertise from within or outside of your organization Users can search for a funding opportunity and instantly view matching faculty from inside or outside their institution.   9. Foundation Directory Online The Foundation Directory Online is a database created by the Foundation Center. The online database provides comprehensive information about the missions, goals, tax forms, and funding programs provided by foundations in the United States. Access to this database is limited; if you are interested in searching the database, please make an appointment through the Foundation Relations Office in the Health System Foundation. http://www.foundationcenter.org/ Subscription service available through Foundation & Corporate Giving 9

Websites for Funding Opportunities Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI): PCORI was established to fund research that can help patients and those who care for them make better-informed decisions about the healthcare choices they face every day, guided by those who will use that information. http://www.pcori.org/ 13

Websites for Funding Opportunities NIH Guide LISTSERV: You can subscribe to the NIH Guide LISTSERV with a Weekly Table of Contents (TOC) that will be delivered to your Email each Friday afternoon. Grants Management Office Pre Award Services Provide funding Information Provide guidance with preparation of new, competing, and resubmission grant applications and progress reports Review, negotiate, approve and provide administrative oversight for all proposals and awards Provide assistance with the development of grant and contract proposal budgets Negotiation of Sponsored Research Agreements Review new awards and initiate account set-up Provide training and information on policy updates, procedures and regulations on the development, submission, and acquisition of funding Participate in Northwell Health offered training initiatives including Public Research Education Program (PREP), Navigating Clinical Research, Sponsored Program Fundamentals Facilitate programmatic account closeout 17

Grants Management Office Internal Documents: What Is Needed GMO Routing & Approval Form o Completed and signed by all appropriate individuals o Budget included with any appropriate cost sharing information Financial Conflict of Interest Disclosure Northwell Policy Applications for External Funding (100.008) All proposals for sponsored projects must be reviewed, approved, and submitted by the Grants Management Office as per Northwell Policy 100.008. Regardless of purpose, all applications must be submitted to the GMO at least 5 business days prior to the Sponsor s deadline. 18
