FIRM FOUNDATION Acts 25 Ephesians 6:18 1 Thess. 5:16-18 Matthew 7:24-25 Colossians 2:7 Ephesians 6:11-13 Philippians 4:6-8
ACTS 25:7-8 7 After Paul arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many and serious charges against him which they could not prove, 8 while Paul said in his own defense, I have committed no offense either against the Law of the Jews or against the temple or against Caesar.
ACTS 25:18-21 18 When the accusers stood up, they began bringing charges against him not of such crimes as I was expecting, 19 but they simply had some points of disagreement with him about their own religion and about a dead man, Jesus, whom Paul asserted to be alive. 20 Being at a loss how to investigate such matters, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and there stand trial on these matters. 21 But when Paul appealed to be held in custody for the Emperor s decision, I ordered him to be kept in custody until I send him to Caesar.
ACTS 25:25-27 25 But I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death; and since he himself appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him. 26 Yet I have nothing definite about him to write to my lord. Therefore I have brought him before you all and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after the investigation has taken place, I may have something to write. 27 For it seems absurd to me in sending a prisoner, not to indicate also the charges against him.
PAUL WAS OVERFLOWING WITH GRATITUDE
COLOSSIANS 2:7 6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established [f]in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO OVERFLOW WITH GRATITUDE?
PAUL WAS ALWAYS PREPARING
EPHESIANS 6:11-13 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
WE ARE IN A CONSTANT BATTLE, SO WE MUST BE IN CONSTANT PREPARATION
PHILIPPIANS 4:8-9 8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
OUR MINDS ARE IN A CONSTANT BATTLE
THE AVERAGE PERSON 36,000 THOUGHTS EVERY DAY 80% ARE NEGATIVE (28,800) 95% ARE REPETITIVE THOUGHTS FROM THE DAY BEFORE
PHILIPPIANS 4:8-9 8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
EPHESIANS 6:18 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints
PAUL NEVER STOPPED PRAYING
PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
NO MATTER HOW BIG THE PROBLEM IS, OUR GOD IS MUCH BIGGER
1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18 16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God s will for you in Christ Jesus.
PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS
MATTHEW 7:24-25 24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
