Accredited Grades is a system devised to allow the LC students of 2021 progress on to further education and the world of work. What are Accredited Grades? It is essentially a process where schools provide predicted grades of all LC 2021 students to the State Examinations Commission (SEC), who in turn apply a national standardisation process to create Accredited Grades. The Accredited Grade in any subject will feature on the students LC results if the result is higher than the result received in the traditional LC. The Accredited Grades system allows for all individual eventualities for students, Covid, Illness, bereavement etc . and for potential school or community covid implications. Parents/Guardians and students must not contact a teacher or other member of staff to discuss or try to influence the decision making process relating to the marks.
Relevant information gathered over the two years of their LC with us in St Pauls: Assignments, projects and practical work Performance in Reviews. Significant in-school assessments such as 5th year Christmas and Pre Mock 2020. Evidence of learning from the period of school closures in 2021 can be used. Performance on any coursework component, even if this has not been fully completed Results of up to a maximum of three assessments conducted between March 1st and May 14th 2021. This will be decided at subject department level. Two of these will be recorded on e-portal at Review 5 and Review 6 deadlines. Any Reasonable Accommodations granted will be considered in predicted grades What evidence will teachers use to generate a predicted grade?
State Examinations Commission (SEC) Accredited Grades 2021 LC 2021 students will be able to opt in to receive a set of SEC Accredited Grades. This will be possible through the student portal. This will involve three distinct school based phases 1. The class teacher will use a range of available evidence to support her/his judgement- making in estimating the predicted percentage marks to award to each student. This will be followed by an in-school alignment process with teacher(s) of the same subject. This will be followed by a oversight by the school Principal before submission to the SEC. 2. School Phases 3.
State Examinations Commission (SEC) Accredited Grades 2021 The SEC will take the predicted percentage mark as submitted by the school and apply a National Standardisation Process. The SEC will apply recent National Data and Junior Cycle Data to the predicted grades (as submitted by the school) to formulate the Accredited Grades SEC Phase We strongly advise ALL students elect to take accredited grades when the portal opens tomorrow WEDNESDAY 10th @ 12:00pm.
All students may opt to take Leaving Certificate examinations, (including written examinations and related additional components in each subject as appropriate) in 2021. State Examinations 2021 The State Examinations Commission will put in place the necessary arrangements to provide these examinations, subject to prevailing health advice. Students who wish to take the examinations will be able to participate in orals and coursework while those who do not will have the option of the SEC Accredited Grade. We strongly advise ALL students to elect to sit all exams when the portal opens on WEDNESDAY 10th @ 12:00pm.
LC Timetable: Beginning June 9th Awaiting details on reduced number of questions so therefore students have more time to complete the paper than in previous years. State Examinations arrangements.

continued... Ensure all of the subjects that you are studying are included on your list. Remove subjects that you are not studying. For example some students are entered for French & LCVP automatically -remove where applicable. Select the correct level that you are now taking in each subject (this is particularly important). Most students have been entered in HL in each subject and you will need to take care to elect the level correctly. Music students must ensure that they select the correct elective
If you are doing a subject OUTSIDE of school you will need to manually enter this. HOWEVER, WITH THE ACCREDITED GRADING SYSTEM IT IS LIKELY THAT YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE THAT YOU ARE RECEIVING TUITION FROM A REGISTERED TEACHER (Teaching Council) -otherwise you can t receive an accredited grade for this subject. You can sit the exam without this provision. Once you have submitted your choices on the Candidate Self Service portal, this information will be returned to the school for review. Will have a final opportunity to change levels for accredited grades at End of April (date TBC) State Exams
Wont be possible to run them as we would normally do as we cannot interfere with class contact time. The papers have been paid for and are ready for distribution The vast majority of staff and pupils believe that the Mocks would be very valuable for pupils to: A.Practice sitting exam B.Timing for questions C. Give them a clearer indication of where their own learning is before June. D.Choosing the correct level Mock Exams Considerations: Could be run in evenings or weekends, supervision Papers could be modified by teachers and subject departments to reflect the new structure and timings details due in late March Will not disadvantage students towards accredited grade Difficulties with corrections
Mocks and Finances Exam Fees Exempt for LC2021 Mock Papers Purchased and ready for distribution Refund of the corrections cost
