Haemoproteus: Parasite Morphology, Vectors, and Pathogenesis
Investigate the life cycle and characteristics of Haemoproteus, a parasite affecting birds like pigeons and turkeys. Learn about its morphology, transmission vectors, and potential symptoms of infection, such as anemia and liver enlargement. Dive into the intricacies of this avian parasite for a comprehensive understanding.

Haemoproteus Haemoproteus Pathogenesis and Symptoms: o Infection is usually symptomless but in heavy infection, affected bird may appear restless, anorexia, anaemia, enlarged liver and spleen etc.
Haemoproteus Haemoproteus Diagnosis:- o By demonstration of halter shaped gametocytes inside the RBCs in stained blood smear. Image source: Google image
Haemoproteus Haemoproteus Treatment: o Antimalarial drug like primaquine etc. are useful.
Haemoproteus Haemoproteus Control: oTreatment of infected birds. o By controlling vector i.e. Pseudolynchia flies by spraying insecticide
